The Beretta M1951 is a semi-automatic, falling block locking system, short recoil operated, single action pistol, chambered for the 9 mm Parabellum cartridge, designed and manufactured by Beretta.
Operation
To provide a delayed blowback mechanism necessary for the 9mm cartridge, the barrel moves (recoils) backward after firing, guided by a slot in the frame, until reaching a cutout into which the ears at the back of the falling block lug drop down into the cutout, arresting the movement of the barrel.
