Bhandup Bhandup

Bhandup - Definition and Overview

Bhandup is a suburb of Mumbai. It is also the name of a railway station on the Mumbai suburban railway on the Central Railway line.

Like most suburbs in Mumbai, Bhandup has two main sub regions, Bhandup(West) and Bhandup(East) which are to the West and East of the railway line. Bhandup(West) is a busy industrial suburb while Bhandup(East) is more residential and laidback. Traditionally Bhandup was famous for its salt mines (not mines actually , salt extraction from sea water), and to date these can be found in Bhandup. The suburb is very close to Powai which is popular for the Powai lake and falls.
