A Bicuspid aortic valve is a normal aortic valve that has three cusps. A bicuspid aortic valve (i.e. having only two cusps) is mostly due to congenital malformation. A Bicuspid Aortic Valve may lead to varying degrees of severity of aortic stenosis and aortic regurgitation with variable courses of progression of stenosis, calcification and regurgitation. Hence a case of bicuspid aortic valve needs a scheduled follow up, to determine and plan management.
