Billy Whizz - Definition and Overview

Billy Whizz is a fictional character who has his own comic strip in the UK comic The Beano. The strip revolves around Billy, a boy who can run extraordinarily fast. He also has a younger brother, called Alfie Whizz, although he does not share Billy's speed. It first appeared in issue 1139 of The Beano, dated 16 May 1964. It replaced The Country Cuzzins.

The strip was drawn by Malcolm Judge, who had drawn Colonel Crackpot's Circus before this, another comic strip in The Beano. After his death in 1989 he was succeeded by Vic Neill, although Trevor Metcalfe occasionally drew him during this time. G. Hall took over after Vic Neill died in the early 2000s, and the strip is currently drawn by Wayne Thompson, who also draws Joe Jitsu in the same comic.

Because of the comic strip, "Billy Whizz" is also British slang for the restricted drug amphetamine (aka "speed").
