Bloc Party - Definition and Overview

Bloc Party is a British rock band formed in 2004. Often compared to contemporaries Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party are seen by the music press as one of the most promising bands of 2005. Their sound is, although similar to Franz Ferdinand, as well as post-punk bands like Gang of Four, remains unique.

'Bloc Party' is also a term for a large party along a group of streets and yards normally taking up an entire city block. Regional and local bands are often hired to play at block parties.
