Blot-Sweyn Blot-Sweyn

Blot-Sweyn - Definition and Overview

Blot-Sven (king 1084-1087) ousted his brother-in-law Inge from Svealand, when he had refused to administer the sacrifices at the Temple at Uppsala, in ca 1080.

Three years later, Inge returned from Westrogothia and defeated Blot-Sven. Blot-Sven was the last pagan king of Sweden and his fall marks the final victory of the Christian faith in Sweden. Some regard him as he progenitor or the House of Sverker.
