Blue Mound is a village located in Macon County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,129.

Geography

Blue Mound is located at 39°41'59" North, 89°7'19" West (39.699677, -89.122075)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 1,129 people, 459 households, and 329 families residing in the village. The population density is 738.8/km² (1,898.9/mi²). There are 483 housing units at an average density of 316.1/km² (812.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 99.65% White, 0.00% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.09% from other races, and 0.09% from two or more races. 0.27% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 459 households out of which 34.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.0% are married couples living together, 11.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.3% are non-families. 24.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 2.91.

In the village the population is spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 20.7% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 90.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.3 males.
