Definition

"The Bobath concept is an approach to therapy and rehabilitation, which was developed for individuals with pathophysiology of the CNS. The approach is used in the treatment of adults, children and infants. Originating in the work of Berta (1907 - 1991) and Karel Bobath (1905 - 1991), initially developed upon clinical experience, the concept was based upon available models of motor control. This holistic approach evolved over more than sixty years and new models of motor control and motor learning have provided the rationale for current practice. The theoretical framework of the approach continues to evolve and be enriched with the emergence of new information in the movement science." [1] (http://bhwang.hihome.com/bhwang-1-2.html)
