Boilerplate (robot) - Definition and Overview

Boilerplate is a fictional Victorian era robot, said to be "a mechanical man developed by Professor Archibald Campion during the 1880s and unveiled at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition". It supposedly met its fate in 1918 when it was listed as missing in action in World War I. The Boilerplate website became a minor Internet phenomenon in 2002, and is still used by educators to highlight the danger of doing online research.
