 Bon Adrien Jeannot de Moncey - Definition 

Bon-Adrien Jeannot de Moncey, duc de Conegliano (17541842), Marshal of France, was a prominent soldier in Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.

He made his carrier of general during the French Revolutionary Wars in Pyrenees (17931795). He took part in Brumaire coup in 1799. In 18011815 he was inspector general of the police. In 1814 he supported Louis XVIII and was named Peer of France. Moncey protested the trial of Marshal Ney, and was dismissed and imprisoned. The King returned his titles in 1816–1819. He continued his military career. Present at the return of Napoleon's ashes in December 1840, he said after the ceremony, "Now, let's go home to die." He died on April 20, 1842.
