A Boo is a type of ghost that appears in some of Nintendo's Mario video games. When Mario (or Luigi) looks toward this creature, it blushes, covers its face, and stops moving. When Mario turns away, the Boo becomes vicious and chases him. A larger boss version exists, known as "The Big Boo." Other types include "Fishin' Boo", who floats overhead dangling a lethal blue flame.

Boos first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3 in some of the fortress levels. They have since appeared in Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and secondary games such as Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Power Tennis and the Mario Party series.

Though Boos are, for the most part, minor antagonists, they are Mario's allies in Paper Mario, assisting him in his battle against Bowser. In Luigi's Mansion, King Boo is the main antagonist in Luigi's quest to rescue Mario.
