 Border Television - Definition

Border Television is the ITV franchisee for the border region between England and Scotland, and also the Crown Dependency of Isle of Man. Based in Carlisle, England, Border TV has had the complex task of serving three very different regions, particularly given the political differences between England and Scotland, and the fact that the Isle of Man is not even part of the United Kingdom. However, this has been remedied by the introduction of separate bulletins for England and Scotland. Border Television is now owned by ITV plc. There is currently some controversy on the Isle of Man regarding lack of coverage, particularly of Tynwald.

The chairman of Border Television is Melvyn Bragg.
