Born Against was a critically acclaimed, anti-Christian, left-wing, in-your-face hardcore punk band from New York.
The band was together from 1989 till 1993. Sam Mcpheeters was the vocalist and Adam Nathanson the guitar player. The rhythm section frequently changed line-up but some members were Neil Burke (from False Prophets) and Tonie Joy (from Universal Order of Armageddon) on bass, and Melissa York (later in Team Dresch and The Butchies) and Brooks Headly (Universal Order of Armageddon) on drums. Mcpheeters and Burke later went on to form the band Men's Recovery Project.
They released several records on the independent label Vermiform Records. Albums included Nine Patriotic Hymns For Children and Battle Hymns For The Race War. Of particular note is the Eulogy 7" that was dedicated to Steve Reddy of Equal Vision Records.
