Brooklyn College of The City University of New York is a senior college of the City University of New York. Established in 1930 by the New York City Board of Higher Education, the College, in fact, had its beginnings as branches of Hunter College (then a women's college) and the City College of New York (then a men-only college). With the merger of these branches, Brooklyn College became the first public coeducational liberal arts college in New York City.
