Brown College is a technical college in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, part of the Twin Cities region. The college was founded in 1946 by Richard and Helen Brown, who started the school as the American Institute of the Air, a broadcasting school. It later became known as Brown Institute in 1954 when courses in a variety of other fields including electronics and computers were added. The two founders retired in 1978, and the school changed to its current name in 2001.
Many significant television and radio personalities got their start at Brown. Former U.S. Representative and Senator Rod Grams attended the institute for a time in the late 1960s.
