Brown Line (Chicago Transit Authority) - Definition and Overview

The Brown Line of the Chicago Transit Authority runs completely above ground. It starts out in northwest Chicago, at the Kimball station, and then zigzags its way to the Belmont station, where passengers can transfer to the Red Line or the Purple Line, the latter only during weekday rush hours. From Belmont, the line moves south to Chicago's Loop, where it moves counterclockwise, only to come out facing northward on its journey back to Kimball.

The Brown Line stops at the world's largest commercial building, the Merchandise Mart. The Quincy stop is near the Sears Tower.
