The KodakBrowniebox camera, introduced in 1900, was a very simple camera that anyone could use. Equally important, at an initial cost of one US dollar, it was also a camera that almost anyone could afford. It introduced the concept of the snapshot. The camera was named after the popular cartoon characters depicted by Palmer Cox.
