Brugg is a city in central Switzerland in the Canton of Aargau. It is the capital of both the canton and the district of Brugg. There are three rivers flowing through the city: the Aare, the Reuss and the Limmat, forming a tributary in the northeast. The city takes its name from a bridge (brücke) over the Aare river built in Roman times.

The municipality has grown to border Windisch and Uemiken.
