Buddy (dog) - Definition and Overview

Buddy was the male chocolate-colored Labrador Retriever of U.S. President Bill Clinton. Clinton acquired Buddy as a puppy in 1997 and named him after his late uncle.

Buddy and the Clinton's pet cat Socks fought frequently at the White House and were kept at separate quarters. Since this would be no longer possible in the Clintons' smaller home in New York, Socks was given away to President Clinton's secretary when he left office.

He died after a car accident near the Clinton home in Chappaqua, New York in 2002.
