Bug tracking - Definition and Overview

A ticket tracking system that is designed especially to manage problems (software bugs) with computer programs.

Typically bug tracking softaare allows user to quickly enter bugs and search on them. In addition some allow users to specify a workflow for a bug that automates a bugs lifecycle.

Most bug tracking software allows the administrator of the system to configure what fields are included on a Bug.

Having a bug tracking solution is critical for most systems. Without a good bug tracking solution bugs will eventually get lossed or poorly prioritized.
