Buick Reatta - Definition

The Buick Reatta was a hand-made luxurious sports coupe produced from early 1988 through 1992. It was based on the "E-body" mechanicals used by the larger Buick Riviera (among others), but sported a trim European design that was penned by Giugiaro. Initially offered as a hardtop coupe, a convertible version was added for 1990. It used GM's ubiquitous 3800 V6 and sported a fully independent suspension and front wheel drive. During the first two years of contruction the Reatta also featured a touch screen centraly mounted computer. The touch screen computer included controls for both the radio and climate control. The Reatta was intended as a halo car for Buick, but sales were poor, and the company already had the luxurious Riviera coupe, so the Reatta was dropped after 1992.
