Buldhana - Definition and Overview

Buldhana ( Buldana ) is the city in the state of Maharashtra.

Buldhana is the head quarter of Buldhana District located in Amravati Division.

Area 9,680 sq. km., population 2,226,328 (2001 census). Buldhana district in India is bounded on the north by Madhya Pradesh state, to the east by Akola district and by Washim district , to the south by Parbhani district and by Jalna district , and to the west by Jalna district and by Jalgaon district .

Cotton, cereals and Oil Seeds are the predominant crops grown in the district.

Buldhana district forms the west part of Amravati division, which corresponds to the former British Raj province of Berar. Places of interest:

  • Shegaon, home to the Sant Gajanan Maharaj.
  • Sindkhedraja , birth place of Veer Mata Jijabai, mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji.
  • Lonar , Place of Lonar Crater & Lonar Lake.
