Burgerless burger - Definition and Overview

A burgerless burger, especially in Southern California, means a burger made without meat patty. Unlike the veggie burger which is available only in some fast-food restaurants, you may order a "burgerless burger" from many other restaurants.

You may order a burgerless burger from these restaurants:

• Cassell's: grilled cheese
• Fatburger: skinny fats
• In-N-Out: wish burger (without cheese) / grilled cheese (with cheese)
• Tommy's

A burgerless burger can also be a burger made from a non-beef meat substitute because of fear of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). For example: some restaurants may call their BLT sandwich or ham & cheese sandwich a "burgerless burger".
