California State University, Sacramento, better known as "Sacramento State", "Sac State", or CSUS, is a public university located in the city of Sacramento, California. Sacramento State is part of the California State University system. CSUS was founded as Sacramento State College in 1947. The school gained university status in 1972.
Sacramento State's colors are green and gold and their nickname is the Hornets. Sacramento State sports teams participate in NCAA Division I (I-AA for football) in the Big Sky Conference.
