Călin Constantin Anton Popescu-Tăriceanu (cuh-lin const-an-teen ant-on pop-es-koo tuh-ritcha-noo), (born 14 January 1952), is the Prime minister of Romania starting from December 28 2004. He is the president of the National Liberal Party and a vice-president of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party. He is a graduate of the Technical Institute for Construction in Bucharest andhttp://www.gov.ro/graphics/ministri/tariceanu_calin2.jpg has a Master's Degree in Mathematics and Informatics. Between 1996 and 1997 he served as Minister of Industries and Commerce in Victor Ciorbea's government. Between 1996 and 2004 he was a Romanian MP, in the Chamber of Deputies, representing Bucharest. Between 2000 and 2004 he was Vicepresident of the National Liberal Party group in the Romanian Parliament and vice president of the Commission for Budget, Finances and Insurances in the Chamber of Deputies. During the 2004 election, he was proposed to be the Prime Minister of Romania in an eventual government of the Justice and Truth alliance.That government has already been formed on the 30th of dec. His goverment was elected with 265 for and 200 not.
