Calne - Definition and Overview

Calne is a town in Wiltshire, England, with a population of around 12,000 people. It lies on the River Marden, the Wilts and Berks Canal and the A4 road east of Bath. Its best known industry was bacon production, although this has now ceased.

Notable buildings near the town include Bowood House, while notable people from Calne include Saint Edmund and John Pym.
