Calyon - Definition and Overview

Calyon is the corporate and investment banking division of the Crédit Agricole (CA) banking group, primarily serving clients operating outside of France. After the merger of CA with Crédit Lyonnais in 2003, the investment banking business of Crédit Lyonnais was merged into Crédit Agricole Indosuez. This merger took place on May 1 2004.

Calyon's securities business in Asia retains the name CLSA (formerly Crédit Lyonnais Securities Asia).

Name

This is represented in its name 'CA' for the initials of Crédit Agricole and 'lyon' for Lyonnais.
