Candice (Candy) Atherton (born 21 September 1955) is the British Member of Parliament for Falmouth and Camborne. She is a member of the Labour Party and is most active in protecting the dolphins, foxes, and Cornish identity of her constituency. Her Liberal Democrat shadow is Julia Goldworthy, and her Conservative Party shadow is Ashley Crossley. In January 2005 she became embrolied in a dirty tricks scandal which involved her allegedly asking her assistant Paul Phillips to dig up dirt on Crossley with the aim of having him de-selected. Phillips resigned and took Atherton before the employment tribunal board, claiming her actions were homophobic.
