Cape Cod Sea Camps - Definition

Cape Cod Sea Camps or CCSC is a summer camp located in Brewster, Massachusetts and situated on Cape Cod bay. It has both a day camp with approximately 280 campers a week ranging in age from 4-17, and a resident camp with 375 campers aged 8-17 per session. The day and resident camps operate independently from each other with little interaction between the campers or staff of the two camps.

CCSC was founded in 1922 by Captain Robert J. Delahanty and his wife Emma Berry Delahanty as Camp Monomoy for Boys and soon after a Camp Wono for Girls was created as well. The camps merged in the 1970s into the Cape Cod Sea Camps which is now a co-educational camp located on the former camp Wono site. The camp is currently headed up by Executive Director Nancy Garren, who is the granddaughter of Captain Del.

The camp offers many activities including sailing which is done in a fleet of Mercuries on the bay and as well as a fleet of Sunfish on nearby Long Pond. Other activities include swimming, various landsports, archery, riflery, BBs, art, woodworking, digital photography, windsurfing, waterskiing, as well as others which change periodically. CCSC also features one of the largest teen leadership programs in the country in its Junior Counselor Training Program which is a four year program for 14-17 year olds and is ran by Steven Wallace who is also the national director of SADD.
