Capitoline Triad - Definition and Overview

The Capitoline Triad was comprised of three deities of Roman mythology who were worshipped in an elaborate temple on Rome's Capitoline Hill.

The three deities thus honoured were Jupiter (god), the King of the Gods, his wife and half-sister Juno (mythology), and their daughter Minerva, Goddess of Wisdom. The temple was built under the reign of Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, the last King of Rome prior to the establishment of the Roman Republic.
