Carlos is almost exclusively a left fielder. He has been the White Sox's starting left fielder for the first six years of his career, with only a few games a year as the designated hitter.
Carlos can hit for both average and power. In 2001 and 2002, his average slumped to the .260s, however he has returned to exceeding .300, and has a career average of .288. His home run totals have continually increased over the years, and he has hit 31 in each of the last two seasons.

Originally signed as an amateur free agent, Carlos Lee's salary has grown over the years from the $200,000 salary his first season to last year's $6,500,000 salary.
