Castletownbere (Baile Chaisleáin Bhéarra in Irish) is a town in County Cork, Republic of Ireland. A harbour town, it is located on the southwest coast of Ireland, in West Cork. The town is home to Dunboy Castle, which was home to the O'Sullivan-Bere family. The name of the town comes from the Irish, meaning "the town of the Bere's castle".
The natural harbour was, up to the 19th century, much used by smugglers. Today, many fish-trawlers make their waypoint here.
