Cefazolin is an antibiotic in the chemical family of Cephalosporin. The drug is usually adminstrated either by injection into a large muscle or infusion via intravenous fluid to the vein. Cefazolin is use to treat moderately severe bacterial infections to many areas of the body, including lung, skin, bone, joint, stomach, blood, heart valve, and urinary tract. It is effective only against infections caused by bacteria, especially staphylococci and streptococci species. These organisms are common on normal human skin. Resistance to Cefazolin is seen in several species of bacteria. Side effects from cefazolin are not common. Possible side effect includes:
