A cell is a single unit or compartment, enclosed by a border or wall.

Examples of cells:

• prison cell
• monastic cell
• cell in biology
• electrochemical cell
• radio cell, as used in cellular mobile and cell phone
• table cell, as used in HTML / web pages
• Geometric cell - the three-dimensional analogue of a face
• a covert cell of terrorists or partisans - a small organisation group designed to resist attempts at policing and counter-espionage
• in music a cell is a rhythmic, melodic, motivic, or intervallic group, set, or figure (music).
