The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) (at first, for a brief period, known as the British Electricity Authority or BEA) was the body that ran the UK's newly nationalised electricity supply industry from 1947. The authority was dissolved by the Electricity Act of 1957 and replaced by the Central Electricity Generating Board and the Electricity Council. |
