Centre (hockey) - Definition and Overview

Centre in hockey is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play on the ice is down the centre of the area. Centres are more likely than other players to be a team's star and many of the best known players were centres as are many team captains. He takes face-offs and is regarded as the play maker.
