Cerebro is a mutant-detecting mechanism in which the X-Men leader, Professer Charles Xavier uses to detect any mutant using their powers. It's powerful and only Xavier could use it until recently. Jean Grey a.k.a Phoenix was able to use it until her "death" Mid-2004. Throughout time it has evolved to detect both mutants and humans as seen in the 2003 X2 : X-Men United the red dots detecting mutants and the white dots detecting humans. Some mutants, such as Magneto and Juggernaut, have learned to shield themselves from it.
