Chantal Kreviazuk - Definition and Overview

Chantal Kreviazuk is a Canadian singer-songwriter of rock and pop music. Kreviazuk was born on May 18, 1974, in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is a classically trained pianist. Her first album Under These Rocks and Stones was released in 1997 and won praise from critics and music lovers alike. In 1998 Kreviazuk scored her only international hit with a cover of John Denver's Leaving On A Jet Plane taken from the soundtrack to the blockbuster Armageddon. In December of 1999 she married Our Lady Peace front man Raine Maida. On January 16, 2004, their son, Rowan, was born.

In 2003 she & husband Raine Maida collaborated on a number of tracks with Avril Lavigne for her sophomore album Under My Skin, during which time Lavigne moved into their Malibu home. Kreviazuk and Maida also contributed songs to Kelly Clarkson's 2004 album Breakway. Kreviazuk and Maida have also been enlisted as producers on third season American Idol runner up Diana DeGarmo's first album. Other notable writing credits to Kreviazuk's name include being one of six people to pen Gwen Stefani's Rich Girl.
