Charles Mix County is a county located in the state of South Dakota. As of 2000, the population is 9,350. Its county seat is Lake Andes6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,979 km² (1,150 mi²). 2,843 km² (1,098 mi²) of it is land and 136 km² (53 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.57% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 69.65% White, 0.13% Black or African American, 28.28% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.47% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. 1.89% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
