Charles Edward Spearman (september 10 1863 - september 7 1945) was an English psychologist.
He is known for work in statistics, as a pioneer of factor analysis, and for Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. He also did seminal work on human intelligence, including the discovery of the g factor.
Spearman originated the statistical procedure of correction for attenuation now widely used in the behavioral sciences.
He was a student of Wilhelm Wundt and was strongly influenced by the work of Francis Galton.
