Charles Talbort, 15th Earl of shrewsbury was the last member of his family to live in the statley home of Alton towers, now a successful theme park. Charles was a very grumpy man, he was always moaning and he was very spiteful. As he was returning to his grand house his carriage was stopped by an old beggar in the road, she asked for a couple of pennies to buy some food but the Earl horridly refused and told the driver to carry on. The old beggar yelled a curse over him, she said "Everytime a branch falls from your own grand oak tree, a member of your family will die". The Earl thought nothing of this and continued to Alton towers. That night a giant storm raged outside and a bolt of lightening hit the grand oak and a branch fell off, and sure enough a member of his family died. The next night it happend again. The Earl had by then gone "loopy" and told his servants to take many chains and chain all the branches to his tree so they could not fall off, the Earl died the next day. In the year 2000 the tussuads group started to refurbish the old house, and as the builders got to the main hall they found a hollow wall, the carefully knocked it down to reveal a labrotory which contained his Aristocratic crown and jewels, but most importantly it contained the first branch which had fallen on that fateful night, his personal diaries of what happen that night. The old oak tree remains to this day chained up and missing branches, it is protected by the british government. The towers are undergoing a multi-million pound project to refubish them. The branch is on the ride HEX.
