Charlie the Tuna was the cartoon mascot for Star Kist tuna, and he also appeared on any of his product's television commercials.
Animated cartoon television commercials depicted Charlie as a beatnik wearing a beret who thinks that he is so hip and cultured that he has "good taste", but is rejected from being hauled in on a Star Kist fish-hook, as, according to the commercial, Star Kist isn't looking for tuna with good taste, but rather for tuna that taste good.
