Chen Ing Hau - Definition

Chen Ing Hau (陳盈豪 pinyin: Chen Ying Hao) is the author of the infamous CIH virus (also known as Chernobyl) and also one of the more interesting examples of legal battles involving virus writers.

Ing-Hau released CIH while at a university. When he created the virus, he received little more than a demerit from the university he was studying at. He later enlisted in the military. Because of the Taiwanese legal system, it was a long time before Ing-Hau was ever considered in violation of the law. He went on to become a hardware tester for Wahoo International Enterprise.

In September 2000, Ing-Hau was arrested by Taiwanese authorities after a Taiwanese student filed a complaint against him. The case is currently pending.
