Cheonan is a city in South Chungcheong province, South Korea. It is located about 50 miles south of Seoul. The city is connected to Seoul and Daejeon, both by road and by train. Regular Gyeongbu Line trains stop at Cheonan Station in the city center, while KTX express trains stop at Cheonanasan Station. In addition, there are plans to extend Seoul Subway Line 1 to Cheonan.

The city is home to numerous universities, and has been designated as the high tech headquarters for Korea.
