Cheongju is a city in North Chungcheong Province, South Korea, and the capital of North Chungcheong.

History

Since the ancient times Cheongju was an important town in the province. After the Gyeongbu Railway was completed in 1905, the town became a hub for modern transportation. The government of North Province was moved from Chungju to Cheongju in 1908.
