Chicken hypnotism - Definition and Overview

Related Words: Autosuggestion, Bioenergetics, Biofeedback, Counseling, Est

A chicken can be hypnotized, or put into a trance by holding its head down against the ground, and repeatedly drawing a line along the ground, starting at its beak and extending straight outward, with a stick or a finger. A chicken hypnotized in this manner will remain immobile for up to half an hour, continuing to stare at the line.

This technique is especially useful for farmers who need to slaughter a chicken and don't have help immediately available, and in feeding large pet reptiles who are too slow to catch a moving chicken.

The means and effect of chicken hypnotism on chickens are notably similar to those of highway hypnosis on humans.
