The Christian Institute is notable for its public campaigns opposing gay rights, in particular in support of Section 28.
In 2000 the CI became the first and only group to ever take a case to court for a breach of Section 28.

In response, Members of Parliament questioned the CI's charitable status in light of their political campaigning.[1] (http://uk.gay.com/headlines/7109)
