CLANNAD (クラナド) is a renai game created by Key, which also created AIR and Kanon. Key announced a release date of 2002 in 2001, and after postponing the release several times, finally released CLANNAD on April 28, 2004. This game was the subject of much controversy, as it contained no Ecchi content at all, which was uncharacteristic for the genre. CLANNAD defies the stereotypes of its genre, largely because Studio Key belongs to the category of h game making soft-houses.
