The Cliffs of Moher are the cliffs at the south-western edge of The Burren area, which is located in County Clare, Republic of Ireland. The cliffs rise from the Atlantic Ocean to a height of nearly 200 meters and extend for a distance of eight kilometers.
On top of the cliffs is an old watch tower – O'Brien's Tower. From here, one can view
the Aran Islands and Galway Bay, across which lie the Maumturk Mountains in Connemara.
The cliffs are considered a tourist attraction, and there is a visitor center on the site. They were filmed as the "Cliffs of Insanity" in the 1986 movie, The Princess Bride.
