A clip is a device pushed into the magazine of a firearm to load it in one action. A clip-loading weapon needs the clip for proper operation; it can not be loaded with loose cartridges. An example of a clip-loading weapon is the Garand. Below is a picture of an M-1 Garand clip.

Other loading devices that use the word clip are the stripper clip, a speedloader that resembles a clip but does not enter the magazine, and the revolver clip.
